Saturday Morning Meal Planning

It’s probably not the most exciting but on a Friday evening after a week of work I love just chilling out at home. Chilling out, to me, often entails breaking out some cookbooks and having a flip through them with a cuppa. This is where my little brain starts ticking over…

Saturday morning comes and I am what you would call an early riser (8am is a total lie in), The Chap is not. I like to use this hour wisely:

I stick on some food network (delighted this morning because Pioneer Woman was on) and I get my list on.

I’ll have a look at the Super 6 in for that well known German supermarket that I shop in and have a mooch in the fridge and freezer to see if anything needs to be used up.

This is where I landed:IMG_0908

  • Turkey breast is on special and there was a recipe for turkey schnitzel in ‘The Middle Eastern Kitchen’ so that’s Monday sorted
  • I found a rogue courgette in the fridge so I’m thinking courgette fritters or maybe a quiche if I’m organised enough on Monday to make pastry
  • Chicken breasts next and fajitas because they’re always tasty and I saw them in ‘The Pioneer Woman Cooks’ and thought “ooh”
  • Thursday’s beef kofte because I’m on a Middle Eastern buzz, the nice beef mince is 2 for €6 and I’ll make the kofte and stick the other pack in the freezer
  • Bacon loin is on special and what to do except cabbage and spuds? I remembered that I got a frozen rice and bean stir fry mix so I’ll doctor them and serve with fried bacon

You may notice Saturday and Sunday are blank, that’s because The Chap is currently inside making me beer brats for dinner and we shall be visiting our respective Daddies on Sunday (more on that later)

So that’s the plan, in addition to all the basics I’ll get to have baking fun this week because The Chap has a work charity bake sale. I hope to keep you updated on the tastiest of the week ahead!

BTW those strawberries were genuine home grown produce:IMG_0897

Definitely won’t be putting Keeling’s out of business with our crop but they sure were tasty!IMG_0901
